Anthropic survey finds a wide gap between public and staff AI expectations
Anthropic published a survey comparing a weighted nationally representative sample of 10,980 US adults with an unweighted sample of its own staff. On whether AI could make a Nobel-level discovery by 2030, 39% of US adults and 91% of staff said yes; over half of staff, versus 5% of US workers, expected AI to do at least 80% of their current work. These are beliefs about the future, not measured capability or a forecast validated by outcomes.
