FTC asks whether ad-optimization platforms should face impersonation-rule duties

The FTC announced a consultation on whether its Government and Business Impersonation Rule should address the role of ad-optimization platforms. The formal October 1 Federal Register notice includes questions about AI-enabled advertising and provides a November 30, 2026 comment deadline. This is an advance notice and consultation, not an adopted rule or a finding that all AI advertising violates the law.
