India’s medical regulator puts AI-generated promotions under new guidelines

India’s National Medical Commission issued guidelines effective October 6 for registered medical practitioners and hospitals. They prohibit AI-generated promotional campaigns for commercial interest, require permitted AI-created promotional content to identify its AI origin, and bar misleading or synthetic patient endorsements. The guidelines govern medical advertising in India and include an exception for certain public-interest government campaigns; they are not a global rule for all creators.
