OpenAI reports a research-intern milestone for supervised coding agents

OpenAI says its internal agents can complete well-defined research tasks under human direction, including work that would take a skilled researcher several days. Its new report describes rising agent use while cautioning that more code and experiments do not directly measure overall research progress.
