OpenAI offers opt-in API text watermarking and plans an EU ChatGPT rollout

OpenAI says API customers worldwide can opt in to textGrain watermarking for select models now. It plans invisible watermarks for eligible ChatGPT and Codex text in the EU over the coming weeks; detector access initially requires approval. OpenAI notes that editing and short passages can weaken detection.
