Steady Mic

Steady Mic privacy policy

Steady Mic collects no data. Last updated November 2, 2026.

On this page

Steady Mic is a free Chrome extension from Rise Productive LLC. This policy covers the extension only.

What it collects

Nothing. Steady Mic has no account, no analytics, no tracking and no advertising. It does not collect, store, sell or share any personal data, and it makes no network requests except to load its own files from inside the extension.

Your microphone audio

On Google Meet, Riverside, Zoom on the web, when the call asks Chrome for your microphone, Steady Mic processes that audio on your computer (noise removal, gate, leveler and limiter) and hands the processed audio to the call. The call site then receives it, exactly as it would have received your microphone without Steady Mic.

Steady Mic never records, stores or sends your audio itself.

The mic tester and the setup page

The popup’s mic tester records 10 seconds so you can compare the raw and processed takes. Both recordings stay in that tester page and are gone when you close it. They are never uploaded or saved.

The setup page listens for 10 seconds to measure how loud your voice and your room are. That recording also stays in the page and is gone when you close it. The only thing it saves is the settings you accept with Use these settings, in the same local storage as the rest.

Settings

Your settings (the preset, the sliders, and which sites it is on for) are stored in Chrome’s local extension storage on this computer. They are not synced through your Google account and never leave the computer. Removing the extension deletes them.

Permissions

Steady Mic asks Chrome for as little as it can:

  • Storage, to keep your settings on this computer.
  • Active tab, so the keyboard shortcut (Alt+Shift+M, or Option+Shift+M on a Mac) can read the address of the tab you are on and turn Steady Mic on or off for that site. It reads the address only when you press the shortcut.
  • Access to Google Meet, Riverside and Zoom on the web, the only sites it processes audio on.

Changes and contact

If a future version changes any of this, this page will say so before that version is released.

Questions: email hello@riseproductive.com. The rest of this website has its own privacy policy, and the extension itself is described on the Steady Mic page.
